OBJECTIVE:
A large diversified chemicals company commissioned SAI to evaluate its global personal care and cosmetics business. The study included the geographic regions of Western Europe, the United States and Asia and product segments classified in more than ten chemical families
APPROACH:
As part of the study, SAI developed and analyzed carefully segmented quantitative market data, and the qualitative drivers underlying that data
RESULTS:
As a result of the insights developed from the more than 100 interviews conducted, the client gained a better understanding of the markets in which it competes and SAI’s actionable recommendations to improve its future operations

APPROACH:
SAI interviewed raw material producers, packaging converters and end users (brand owners) to develop a clear understanding of the market for ready meals, dairy, beverages, culinary, preserved foods, baby foods, and pet foods
RESULTS:
SAI’s research helped the client acquire sufficient industry knowledge and insight to allow:
- Selection of target markets or segments
- Meaningful engagement with stakeholders in those segments (current or potential customers) which led to:
- Identification of attractive value propositions
- Commitments to jointly develop solutions or products
- Successful commercialization of those projects
OBJECTIVE:
SAI’s client, a major food ingredients manufacturer, was looking to introduce a new ingredient to its target country. The ingredient comes from konjac powder which is widely accepted in the Japanese market but not in other countries. The study aimed to analyze the market for konjac powder and its derivatives in Japan and assess the key success factors which may be applicable for the introduction of the powder and its derivatives into other countries
APPROACH:
SAI divided the study tasks into investigating:
- Trade/usage trends of the konjac root
- Usable nutrient ingredients (derivatives)
- Forms of derivatives
- Forms of usage
The above information was obtained mainly through interviewing industry players and cross-checking the results with available statistical data
RESULTS:
SAI presented the clear difference between ordinary konjac powder and the value added one. SAI proposed the focal product target and alerted its client to unique success factors in Japan which may not be applicable in other countries
SAI’s extensive project experience in animal health includes industry analysis of premixes, animal performance drugs, amino acids, nutritional food additives and vitamins. Within these nutritional and therapeutic products, SAI has completed dozens of domestic and international assignments since 1996.

OBJECTIVE:
A leading multinational chemical company asked SAI to study its customers’ strategy for supplier management, specifically covering animal nutrition, human nutrition, pharmaceuticals, flavors and fragrances
APPROACH:
To successfully perform this analysis, SAI conducted over 100 in-depth interviews with 40 customers in China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Singapore, to:
- Assess their buying decision processes and identify the key decision makers
- Identify decision-making criteria
- Evaluate the client and its competitors’ percentage share of key raw materials for each customer
- Evaluate the performance of the client and its competitors versus the criteria
RESULTS:
For each segment, SAI ranked the client’s position against competitors and identified the areas of unmet customer needs and developed a detailed SWOT analysis and made suggestions
OBJECTIVE:
In animal performance drugs, including porcine somatotropin (PST) and bovine somatotropin (BST), SAI worked with and established high-level contacts within all major vendors, expected end users and regulatory agencies
RESULTS:
Although still in approval stages, these products will drive the global markets over the next several years.
